ASSAM LEAF TEA
Assam Loose Leaf Tea embodies bold, malty flavours, sourced from the lush gardens of northeastern India. Carefully harvested during the region's first and second flushes, this tea reflects centuries of tradition and meticulous craftsmanship.
The leaves are expertly withered, rolled, oxidised, and dried, creating a distinctive depth and richness. Assam’s fertile soil, humid climate, and abundant rainfall contribute to its unique terroir, resulting in its characteristic robust taste. Discovered in the 1820s by British officials, Assam became central to global tea production, shaping tea culture worldwide and playing a vital role in blends like English Breakfast Tea. The amber-hued brew tantalises with earthy undertones, a full-bodied texture, and hints of sweetness balanced by subtle astringency. Enjoy it plain or with milk for a perfectly energising start to the day or a sophisticated afternoon treat. Assam Tea delivers an unforgettable sensory experience in every sip.
How to Prepare Loose Leaf Assam Tea
1. Boil Fresh Water Choose spring or filtered water for the best purity and flavour. Bring it to a boil to achieve the optimal brewing temperature.
2. Pre-Warm the Teapot Rinse your teapot with hot water, swirling it around before pouring it out. This step helps to maintain the heat while the tea brews.
3. Measure the Tea For a perfect infusion, use approximately one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per cup. Adjust the quantity to suit your personal taste.
4. Brew the Tea Place the tea leaves into the teapot and pour freshly boiled water over them, ensuring the temperature ranges between 90°C and 95°C for the best extraction.
5. Steep the Tea Allow the tea to steep for 3-5 minutes. A shorter steeping time will produce a lighter flavour, while longer steeping enhances strength and richness.
6. Strain and Serve Pour the brewed tea through a strainer to catch the loose leaves. Savour it plain, or add milk, sugar, or both for a customised cup of Assam Tea.
