Russian Earl Grey Tea is a distinctive flavoured black tea that blends tradition with a lively twist. The base combines high-grown Ceylon Orange Pekoe Tea with rich China Black Tea from Anhui Province, creating a robust and full-bodied foundation. This classic is then elevated with bergamot oil, the hallmark of all Earl Grey teas, and enhanced with additional ingredients like citrus peels, lemongrass, and sometimes cornflowers or Spanish orange pieces, resulting in a brighter, more complex flavour profile.

While traditional Earl Grey is simply black tea and bergamot, Russian Earl Grey adds depth and fragrance, reflecting a unique interpretation of the Russian tea-drinking tradition. Its popularity in Russia grew along the historic Siberian Trade Route, known as the Tea Road, where merchants and nobility experimented with spices and citrus additions to enhance the brew.

How to Brew Russian Earl Grey Tea
1. Add loose leaf Russian Earl Grey tea to a tea infuser or filter.
2. Place the infuser in your cup or mug.
3. Pour freshly boiled water, around 100°C, over the leaves to begin brewing.
4. Steep for 3–5 minutes. Steeping longer may cause a bitter taste.
Serving Suggestions: Enjoy the tea on its own to appreciate the full flavour, or enhance it with milk, honey, sugar, or a slice of lemon according to your preference.
